TERO is an acronym for Tribal employment Rights Office or Ordinance. The Swinomish Tribal Community is considered a TERO tribe. We are a member of a National Organization called Council for Tribal Employment Rights. The TERO program is supported by two ordinances.
Title XIV of our Tribal code is the Employment Ordinance which supports the preference of all tribal members to be employed on all projects on or near the Swinomish reservation. Title XVII is the Tax code that enforces the Tax implemented on all project on or near the reservation. The TERO office can provide reference for members of our own employee bank to be referred to any project on the reservation. We can also refer Native Owned Contractors.
If you have question regarding the TERO program, please contact the TERO office at (360) 466.7232.
