ENVIROMENTAL COMPLIANCE
MISSION STATEMENT:

Protection of the environment and human health on the Swinomish Reservation through management and regulation of uses and activities. Programs include: protection of indoor and outdoor air quality, management and clean-up of solid and hazardous waste, planning for hazardous incident response, control of invasive species, regulation of impacts on shorelines, sensitive areas and other natural resources, environmental ordinance and policy development and environmental review.

Swinomish Environmental Compliance & Management works to satisfy many goals of the Swinomish Tribal Community.

The Environmental Compliance and Management Policy Goals include development and enforcement of Tribal environmental ordinances.

The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is federally recognized and operates under Constitution and Bylaws adopted in 1936 pursuant to the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934.

The Swinomish Tribe is committed to improving the lives and well being of the tribal members through social and cultural programs, education, economic development, and resource protection.

The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is located on Fidalgo Island (gateway to the San Juan Islands) in Skagit County of Washington State about 70 miles north of Seattle. The Planning Office is located across the Swinomish Channel from the town of LaConner.
